Mt. Lebanon is in Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. It is among several townships granted the home rule status.It was established in 1912 as Mount Lebanon-a first class township- but was changed to Mt. Lebanon in 1975 after a home rule charter. It was initially a farming community until the arrival of streetcars. It earned a place in the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Mt. Lebanon occupies 6.06 square miles, and is about 19 minutes from Pittsburgh. It has a terrain lush with evergreen trees, bushes and shrubs with 15 parks and several golf courses.

A 2010 census showed the population of Mt. Lebanon to be 33,137 people.

Commercial and Entertainment

The central business district for this township is called Uptown Mt. Lebanon, which has the Uptown Mt. Lebanon Business and Professional association. Commercial activities

features businesses like coffee shops, boutiques, pizzerias, and small galleries. The nearby South Hills Village contains over 130 stores and several professional businesses.

There are fresh markets, grocery shops, and even farmers’ markets all around Mt. Lebanon. There are markets selling homegrown produce to large scale ones and many more. Places like The Fresh Market, Mount Lebanon Farmer’s Market, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Giant Eagle Market District.

You can eat, drink, and sightsee all you want at the Township’s restaurants. Popular restaurants include Totopo Mexican Kitchen and Bar, Uptown Coffee, Mezza Grill 63,

and plenty more.

The Mt. Lebanon nightlife has something to offer for everyone. For adults are party-goers, popular clubs and bars in the area are the Tennyson Lodge, Linden Grove, Someone Else’s Bar, and more. For community and family-oriented entertainment, the 5 parks in the immediate vicinity are available for your enjoyment: Mt. Lebanon Main Park, Bird Park, Hoodridge Park, Williamsburg Park, and Robb Hollow Road. Their recreation department adds community events to the neighborhood.

Mt. Lebanon has 7 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and a senior high school. Foster, Hoover, Howe, Jefferson, Lincoln, Markham, and Washington Elementary are the names of the Elementary schools. Jefferson and Mellon Middle schools are the middle schools, and the high school is Mt. Lebanon Senior High School. There is a private school included in Mt. Lebanon’s school district called KinderCare of Mt. Lebanon.

The 2015-2016 annual financial reports puts Mt. Lebanon’s elementary tuition fee at $10,752.49 and secondary tuition at $14,252.66. Mt. Lebanon was ranked in the top 5 in 4 different categories by Niche in 2017. It was number 3 in “Best School Districts in Pittsburgh Metro,” number 5 in “Districts with the Best Teachers in Pittsburgh Metro,” number 4 in “Best Places to Teach in Pittsburgh Metro,” and number 4 in “Largest School Districts in Pittsburgh Metro.”

The median household income for Mt. Lebanon residents is $81,274. Current listing prices stand at $275,000 for a home or $171 per square foot. The median listing price in surrounding South Park is $209,900 or $125 per square foot. 0.7 homes per 10,000 in Mt. Lebanon are foreclosed compared to the national one of 1.6 and Pittsburgh’s 0.5.
